Ceramic is an additive assisting to provide a textured floor, or to form a compound suitable for crack and hole repair prior to coating. 
Most commonly used in or in conjunction with Betu's clear epoxy. Ceramic will lessen the gloss level of the epoxy. 
Ceramic when used to make a crack repair mixture gives versatility to the mix. Less added to epoxy clear will result in a runnier mix and more added will give a toothpaste/putty texture.
